Six young New Zealanders are going to Kiribati in February 2017, to help kick off a partnership between Kiribati and Kiwi youth. Join us?

Kiribati and New Zealand share in development challenges, in ways that are not always easily visible. We think that bridging the disconnect between us is the key to making headway in tackling these challenges.
Shifting the ‘us’ and ‘them’ understanding of global issues is vital to achieving sustainable development. Sharing in experiences and collaborating together is the most promising path to a better future for all. We've teamed up with the Pacific Calling Partnership, KiriCAN, and KCCN to make this happen.
And there are things you can only learn by being there, with your feet on the ground. So six of us are going to Kiribati in February, to meet our partner organisations and others, and to lay the groundwork for an exchange both ways.
Here's who we are:
- Benj Brooking (Videographer)
- Devon Hanna (Development Studies student and photographer)
- Maddie Little (Development Studies student)
- Jamie McDell (Musician)
- Juan Manuel Parada (Videographer)
- David Tong (P3 CEO and photographer)
We hope to highlight stories of local I-Kiribati, and engage with advocates on the ground so that New Zealanders can learn how to tackle upcoming sustainable development challenges.

When we get back, phase two kicks off. With P3 Foundation, we aim to speak to high schools and university clubs all over New Zealand, amplifying I-Kiribati voices, and sharing stories both of poverty and climate change - and of the community-led solutions being built from the ground up.
Will you join us in this journey?
P3 Foundation stands for Putting Poverty in the Past. We are New Zealand's youth movement against extreme poverty and for sustainable development.
P3 Foundation is New Zealand's leading youth movement with a vision to see extreme poverty end within our generation. Extreme poverty is unjust and we believe that its impacts should not deprive anyone of the ability to sustain themselves and contribute their talents to the world in which they live.
We believe in a world where every person is given the chance to follow their dreams, and we are making that dream a reality.
Since 2011 we have raised over $150,000 for our development partners in India, Burma, Indonesia and Tonga. To end extreme poverty, we need to be smart about development, and mindful of the work that we support. Good intentions simply aren't enough - what we do has to be based on best practice. Development work must be holistic, empowering and sustainable. No one knows more about a community than the people in it, so our local partners put them at the forefront of development projects.
