  • Your generosity is being felt in Ukraine

I am so excited to share this update with you.

My partner and I set out with a mission to bring a bit of happiness to people living on the edge of the war in Ukraine. Because of you, that is exactly what we have been able to do.

We have been in Mykolaiv where we provided 65 meals everyday for a week for volunteers building new homes for residents of a village that came under occupation. Every house was riddled with bullet holes and some had partially collapsed from being hit with mortar shells, but elderly people were still having to live in then. Being part of a project that so greatly improved the lives of the people living in the village was amazing.

Next we were asked by a mental health organization to provide food for children receiving counseling in two villages in the Kharkiv oblast. One of these villages had been occupied and the children living there had experienced true horror. We made a pop-up McDonald's as the actual food chain hasn't operated in this region since the war started. Seeing the delight on faces of about 70 children and adults when they saw burgers was worth everything. Our interpretor was actually a soldier who had fought in that area. He was quite emotional to see the kids smiling and happy.

Then we visited a village 7km from the frontline and served pork ragu, pasta and brownies to the elderly residents still living there. As we looked over a crowd of about 40 enjoying their food and laughing while artillery boomed in the background

  • Overwhelming Support

      19 April 2024

I could never put into words how grateful I am for these donations. I have tried again and again to think of something that would convey how I feel but everything just feels insignificant in comparison to how much this means to me.

Jason and I had a mission and we were going to try to pull it off the best we could, but because of you we can now do more than we ever dared to hope. Overnight, so many barriers and problems that we were facing just melted away simply because New Zealand is filled with unbelievably generous people.

From myself in Tauranga and Jason in Oklahoma, thank you.
