Two gentlemen's intrepid uncharted journey across India in an unlikely mode of transport raising spirits and some funds for worthy causes
Nationwide
I know a shortcut Crumpy,,,,Not even eow!
In September 2023 two charismatic but crazy Kiwis (Phil Baldey and Darrin Hawkes) will be piloting a mighty 7HP mixed fuel steed from the North of India through the back roads and off the beaten track to it's home base at Fort Kochi in the South of India. The Mission that we have engaged is to "get amongst it" meet the locals participate in local activities and get in behind tourism vale.
The monsoon season 'should' be finished but we are bound to get drenched, lost, stuck and exhausted, but hopefully spreading some good Kiwi spirit and global awareness.
There is no support, no map, no mechanic on-hand, just a couple of gents who want to 'have a look down that road to see where it goes..... A true intrepid journey getting amongst the locals into places nobody (them or us) would expect to see a couple of polished gents (well one anyway) navigating the torturous road and local customs, hopefully providing some entertainment reporting back on progress or lack of....
Should be curiously informative, if not entertaining and something everyone involved will remember. Aiming to show the extremes of beauty, unsightliness, wealth and poverty to raise funds (and spirits) for two charities "Cool Earth) https://www.coolearth.org/ and "Child Cancer" https://childcancer.org.nz/
We are two 'worker bees' getting out amongst it helping raise awareness and financial assistance to organisations that are making a difference to the global climate and supporting families through devastating illness.
All funds raised will go to the charities we are supporting, Cool Earth and Child Cancer Foundation. All trip expenses will be paid for ourselves. First $1000 to Cool Earth, remaining funds to child cancer foundation.
Mission accomplished!!! 24 October 2023
To all of you who contributed and followed us along the journey a massive "THANK YOU!!" We raised $3350 for two worthy causes, I hope you feel good about yourselves and we have inspired you to get out of the box and try something new. Thanks Heaps.
P.S. Ill try to get onto the video and post that on the FB Page.
thanks Neil and Heather it wasnt for the faint hearted but a wicked journey that had its moments. love having your support
Thanks Robinson family, you guys were on my mind each day throughout the adventure. It wasn't a trip for the faint hearted, but was a wicked journey that had its moments where I am sure we had some assistance. Really appreciate your support. Hopefully we can get you guys on the next adventure.
Thanks Lynn, fantastic adventure and great to have your support. Glad to see you out the other end of your latest challenge as well.
Hi Monica, thanks for your support, and glad you enjoyed the commentary (might have got a bit descriptive in places) . Might have the adventure bug now so potentially more opportunities and stories to come. CCF and CE are stoked with the response and support.
Thanks David, it got easier towards the end where we were getting accustomed to the way India works. Great trip and fantastic to have all the support from home. Great achievement all round!
