Jesse is 16 and in June2015 was diagnosed with aggresive metastatic Melanoma. Now at stage 4, we want to support her family to care for her.
Canterbury
Jesse is an energetic teenager from Lincoln college who has played rep netball since she was young.
Suddenly in June 2015 she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of metastatic melanoma - the shock of her diagnosis has knocked her family for six. Its been a draining 6 months watching her cancer spread, navigating her care and worrying about day to day life.
The cancer has been aggressive and intrusive and impacted her family heavily. She is now stage 4 and is being cared for at home.
Jesse has received maximum treatment for the melanoma.
The extra financial strain of hospital trips, medications and home care has put stress on her family who have been caring for her by working long hours and surviving on family support and koha.
Jesse's mum Shona has exhausted all options in being at home to care for her, and is now back at work and juggling her care with whanau. Her dad and brother work long hours to support the family.
We want to raise money so that Shona can stay at home and look after her daughter, spend time with her and give her the care that only parents can.
We work with Jesse's parents Shona and Andrew and her brother Carlos at South Pacific Meats in Canterbury.
Her family is an integral part of our work environment and after watching them struggle through this we want to help.
We love working with Shona. She is a big part of our family away from home and we will miss her dearly, but she needs to be with her daughter and we want to help support them any way we can.
Thanks to everyone who donated.. 7 February 2016
It is with deep sorrow that I am writing this. On Friday 29th January, Jesse passed on. So on behalf of Shona, Andrew, Carlos, and the extended Nathan/Cox families I would like to thank everyone who made a donation for this cause. Your help made it possible for Shona to be at home caring for Jesse.
If you would like to leave a message of support to the family then feel free to post it here - I will be leaving this page up until 5th March 2016.
Rest in Paradise Jesse x
