Pound mochi, share the love, and support Kumamoto — a charity event supporting earthquake recovery in Kumamoto.
Auckland
Over the past decade, Kumamoto has faced one natural disaster after another, from the Kumamoto Earthquake to severe rainstorms, floods, landslides, and even volcanic activity from Mt. Aso.
This July, Kumamoto was hit once again by another earthquake.
Living all the way here in Auckland, it can feel like there’s not much we can do.
But as a community with shared roots in Japan, we want to send our support, even if it’s small, to the people in Kumamoto who are going through such a difficult time.
With that in mind, the Auckland Japanese Society is hosting a charity event to raise funds for earthquake relief in Kumamoto.
We would be truly grateful for your kindness, your participation, and your support.
All donations received, less applicable bank transfer fees, will be remitted to the Kumamoto Prefectural Government’s designated relief fund account to support those affected by the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake.
