Kyran has qualified for the 2015 NZ Gymnastics Nationals representing Wellington and the NZ squad to compete in Texas USA in Dec 2015.
Wellington
After 12 years training Kyran is another step closer to his dream of representing NZ at the Commonwealth or Olympic games.
Kyran began his gymnastics career at age 5 years in the U.K under the training of two Romanian coaches, where he learned his love of gymnastics.
He continued his training in N.Z when his family returned home in 2008. He has had to contend with numerous club changes due to MAG coach availability.
Kyran has been selected to represent Wellington at the N.Z gymnastic Nationals for the past 6 years.
Kyran competed in Nationals level 7 in 2014 placing 6th overall; 2nd on parallel bars, 3rd on high bar and 6th on rings.
This year with the help of his coach Gavin Snowsill, Kyran, now 16 years old, has qualified for NZ gymnastics Nationals and the Valeri Liukin Invitational to be held in Texas USA, which attracts top teams from across the USA and the world. As one of the largest and longest running International competitions in the United States, the Valeri Liukin Invitational brings together a magnificent field of competitors and is an outstanding opportunity to compete with future Olympic stars. This is his first international competition outside of N.Z.
In addition to Kyran's gymnastics training he is junior MAG judge. He also competes in National level Hip Hop Dancing.
Any financial assistance will be greatly appreciated to get Kyran to the NZ Nationals in October in Auckland and then Kyran and a chaperone to the Texas competition mid December this year.
Funds raised will go towards the costs of:
- Flights, accommodation, insurances, transfers, food, team management fees and team uniform for Kyran to get to NZ nationals and to Texas U.S.A.
- Cost estimate for Kyran $6,500
- Flights, accommodation, insurances, transfers and food for the chaperone to Texas U.S.A.
- Cost estimate for the chaperone $5,500
Kyran hopes to trial for the NZ squad to compete in Australia early next year in order to gain valuable experience to make the NZ Commonwealth team for 2018 games.
Any funds raised that are not used for the USA trip will go towards the Australian trip, should he be successful, covering the same costs as mentioned above. Otherwise funds will go towards his ongoing training and equipment costs.
I am Kyran's father and am immensely proud of his achievements and sacrifices he has made to get to this level of gymnastics. We admire his commitment and dedication to his sport as he needs to travel for an hour via train and bus each training session.
Kyran is a great role model to his two younger foster siblings. Despite his busy schedule he still finds time to play with, help feed and babysit.
My wife and I fully support him in this next stage of development in his sporting career. With a large family of seven any help financially will be greatly appreciated.
