Lara needs a wheelchair van

    Hope everybody had an amazing Christmas and new years. Been quiet lately I do apologise so much going on and with Xmas šŸŽ… it all just flew by. Over the December period has an amazing couple track me down and wanted to pick me and the cause for there donation box they hold at there Christmas house šŸ  of course I was speechless and absolutely over the moon to be thought of and for them to open there home to so many people to go through and look at there absolutely amazing decorations if you had the chance to check it out and made donation I thank you so much šŸ˜Š and from all the people who donated they had made just over $4500 towards my much needed vehicle and that was just amazing I didnā€™t expect that at all so again speechless phone call with I just canā€™t thank people enough it dosnt feel enough.

    So again THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU šŸ™ there is light at end this loooong tunnel.

  • Declined 2nd Round for lotteries Grant

    After waiting almost a year for outcome of reapplying for lotteries unfortunately they come back today and declined same reason as last time ā€œlarge number of applicants & limited fundingā€.

    So back to drawing board once Iā€™ve got myself sorted. Still canā€™t thank all who have donated towards this and please keep sharing will keep posted!

  • Bingo Night Success

    Just want say massive thanks to who attended bingo night hosted by ID Performance, apart from again weather being bit chilly the warmth inside and crowd made up for it and of course the bar was open :) we made over $1300 towards my vehicle which was just absolutely amazing my daughter absolutely loved playing and was great other wee ones having lots fun. I canā€™t thank people enough with the love support the time all putting in to help me it blows me away.

    Massive huge thanks to all who took there time to come to the Quiz night we had - apart from the weather not being best it was a great suprise for me to see so many people there to support me and my daughter. Also thank you to business for there donations that are still coming in also for the night - but also there is a Facebook page where you will find a lot of these amazing businesses auctioning of for my cause. It was a successful night raising just over $1000 towards my vehicle. One again thank you thank you thank you šŸ™ from bottom of my heart. - Lara xx

    Finished up doing my second fundraiser myself that I had come across while on there website so took the opportunity to do it. pikā€™nā€™mix lollie company based up north if Iā€™m correct and was pretty good round sold 54 bags coming in with just over $300 towards my vehicle.

    I have been doing this just within small area as with it on my own collecting and counting and then having to sort through when arrive is a lot to take on your own while trying to parent etc

    Also another thank you to are still coming in a have donated thank you never seems enough. Iā€™ve searched high and low for other ways to fundraise but because Iā€™m an individual there a lot more restrictions just yet another darn wall to hit. We with disabilities shouldnā€™t have to even be doing this never in my wildest dreams Iā€™d think Iā€™d be ever having to do this.

    So once again THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART ā¤ļø

  • Why taxis and Driving Miss Daisy donā€™t really work

    Many people have asked why Lara doesnā€™t just use Driving Miss Daisy or taxis. I think itā€™s important that people realise that whilst DMD and taxis are subsidised for disabled people the subsidy is only up to a fair of $50. So for some who lives in mosgiel where the standard taxi fair to town is around $65 the disabled person will pay around $27.50 each way. Most disabled people living off benefits do not have $55 for a trip into town. Also there are very few wheelchair accessible taxis in Dunedin and Mosgiel. The bus isnā€™t workable for many as the stops arenā€™t always close to peopleā€™s homes and the sidewalks and crossings are terribly difficult to navigate as a disabled person especially with a young child in tow.
