  • Surgery day tomorrow

    Kia ora whānau,

    Our darling Melita has her surgery tomorrow morning and will be in hospital for the next few days - any prayers, thoughts and aroha are welcome as her whānau embark on this next phase of her treatment journey.

    For those who have asked, another practical way to support them would be fresh or frozen meal drop-offs, particularly over the next 2-4 weeks, while Melita recovers and Chris manages things on all fronts. Please touch base with Jess or me for their home address.

    Melita and Chris are so grateful for the financial blessings that have come from this page. It is making such a big difference during this time.

  • LAST DAY OF CHEMO

    LAST DAY OF CHEMO TODAY!!!

    Of course Lief, Jess and I had to go out for a celebratory dinner last night for reaching this milestone 🤗

    Praying that this last round on top of all the other chemo I have done will knock All cancer out of my body!

    Next Phase - I still have to go back every 3 weeks to get 9 rounds of trastuzunab - this is a targeted cancer drug to stop the HER2-positive cancer cells. Thankfully it won’t be as harsh as the chemo and a lot quicker to administer 30-90 mins.

    6-7 weeks from now I will have my double mastectomy surgery (do not have exact date yet). I will still have arranged ECHO scans to check my heart (next one in August). And of course radiation will follow surgery at some stage. I will be also starting hormone blocking treatment (which will be in pill form and I have this for 5 years).

    Still running the race 👟 still got a hill to climb - but I’ve got this!!! With the support of all you of course!

  • SOME GOOD NEWS!

    Having got halfway through my chemo treatment (I like to call it care juice), I was sent for an MRI to see how things are tracking. It looks like my left lymph node and mammary glands have resolved and returned to regular size, and there is no evidence of any other lymph nodes enlarging.

    The other great news is that the area on my left breast has reduced down from 75mm to 35mm! I still have 3 more treatments to go so I am hoping it will blitz the cancer right out of there!

    Thank you all again so much for your continued support on what is a difficult year, your encouraging words, sporadic checking in messages, love and prayers. I know personally that God has His hand on this and I keep looking up each day.

    At the end of treatment I will have 4-6 weeks before I have surgery (double mastectomy) which could take up to 2-3 months recovery.. but more on that later - One step at a time - I don’t like to get ahead of myself on the challenges ahead, so more on that later!

    I am happy to hear more and more of my friends have been to have a mammogram check, and have come out clear 🙂

    That makes my heart happy.

    Amazing family and friends,

    I am now halfway through my chemo (juice care) treatment, and I just wanted to say a massive thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. Your support, love, meal drop offs, kind words and prayers have been so encouraging to me and my whanau as we navigate this journey.. it means more than you know.
