Legendary Learning

My Trip is only a month away today and today I am motivated to fundraise for the cost to not only get there, but stay and learn from the Legends themselves.

This is a learning festival meaning all costs are absorbed by the participants (This is in addition to fundrasing for the legends themselves to get there. NB ALL fundraising to date has been handed over to the organisers of GLCC for the legends themselves and not towards my own costs. This is for me to get there and assist with costs).

The festival itself not only encompasses a meet and greet with the legends and performers, but also workshops, and markets. I have set myself a personal challenge to go for a marathon of workshops - to bring back and share the knowledge here, in NZ. My passion is not only to perform, but to help foster and grow our little old community.

Locally I draw my inspiration from each and every person - performer, stage kitten, mentor, mc, stage manager and audience member. I find inspiration in everyone and everything I see.

The Golden Legend Champion Challenge (GLCC) (http://www.goldenlegends.org/) is the ultimate show and competition hybrid that brings Living Legends of burlesque and up-and-coming burlesque performers together in a mentoring program that benefits all involved. I will return the inspiration the NZ market gives me by bringing back and sharing my experiances from this fantastic event.

Recently I have been awarded the "most improved" at the Hamilton Heat of Grand Tease. I know this is a crazy ass idea, but I want the title of most improved to live beyond this year, next year or the year after. I am reaching for the Starr's, taking all those inspirational people with me.

It will take 22 hours of travel to get there and 22 hours of travel to back. My personal flights cost around $1,800 + insurance and accomodation at around an extra $500. The workshops are from $25USD to $150USD. This is in addition to putting my annual leave into overdraft my 10 days (if my boss pays me!). But you know what? It's dam well worth it!

It is an immense honor to represent NZ at this festival, as the only Aucklander attending, and more so to bring back the knowledge to share nationally.
