Lelia's Cancer Journey

As some of you may already know, recently my 16 year old sister has been diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. Although cancer is significant struggle for any person or family/whanau, it has especially difficult under these circumstances due to the loss of our beautiful grandmother just over a year ago to the same disease.

Lelia is a bright, outgoing, joyful teenager that has many talents and so much to offer in this world. If you knew Lelia before she was diagnosed she was always seen with an big smile on her face and a strong will. She's a very positive person and despite the diagnosis is still trying to continue with school and trying to keep her life as normal as possible.

Because Lelia lives in a small township which doesn't offer the treatment she needs, this means she has to travel 2 hours to receiving treatment and also attend appointments, scans and tests. This means her and her parents have to live away from home often.

Family has been an amazing support for Lelia during hospital appointments and treatment but in order to do so our parents have had to take a significant amount of time off work.
