Lend a hand for Bonnie

Bonnie has been a much-loved part of our kindergarten whanau for three years. She is a gentle, loving, quiet young girl who always delighted in creating imaginary adventures with her group of friends at kindergarten. Even though she hasn't been able to attend kindergarten for quite some time already, her friends still ask for her and she is always in our thoughts.

Our kindergarten whānau were unbelievably shocked to learn that Bonnie had been diagnosed with leukemia. What follows from such a diagnosis is incredibly difficult and traumatic time for Bonnie and her whānau. Bonnie faces a lengthy treatment of around two years, which began in Starship Hospital and later in Tauranga. For Bonnie's whānau this has meant an enormous upheaval. The family stayed in Ronald McDonald's house while Bonnie was in Starship while themselves had to navigate the emotional challenges that come with having a seriously unwell child.

One meaningful way we can help is through financial support. The costs and pressures that come with lengthy hospital treatments, finishing employment to care for Bonnie and living away from home just adds to the burden of Bonnie's illness. Every contribution practically helps but also sends a message that we care.
