Leo’s Big Game: Fighting Cancer

Leo is ten years old, in Year 6 at Maraetai Beach School, a Beachlands Maraetai AFC goalie, Auckland FC's biggest fan, a best mate to Lewis and Nicky and an all round great kid.

Leo had been receiving physio treatment for a sore leg when an xray was recommended and very quickly, he and his family heard a word that sounds big and scary: cancer. Over the April school holidays, Leo was diagnosed with BCor Sarcoma which is a rare, aggressive undifferentiated small round cell tumor and he is now starting 14 rounds of chemotherapy, as well as radiation therapy, before potential surgery.

In just three weeks, Leo and his mum, Cushla, have had their lives turned upside down. This page has been set up by friends of Cushla and Leo to offer financial support during this difficult time.
