Let's give-a-little support Leslie in his journey of recovery, securing a road legal secure Van as both their home & for work purposes.
Bay Of Plenty
On the night of storm that saw the worst rainfall & multiple landslides @ Mt Maunganui that killed 9 people - Leslie was helping others in the storm.
Meanwhile, the rear windscreen on his vehicle was smashed. Not only is it home for them, it's also their only means of transport to go to interviews etc & get a job, there was no insurance. Now it can't get WOF Rego until rear windscreen is fixed. They use a tarp to keep rain out. I understand its so so tought atm with petrol etc.
Ridiculously WINZ would rather keep paying him the benefit than loan him any $ to (which he's able to pay back) to enable him to get a road legal safe secure Van & start him on employment path
Backstory, Leslie left his home town 9 months ago in order to get clean. To date, he has done exactly that. He has decided on a path to good physical, mental & spiritual health & actively stays away from any area or persons that are into illicit substances.
He is a well liked, helpful, humble and positive individual. He & moon just need a hand up to help him buy a new safer, work appropriate Van. He was turned down for a job lawnmowing etc as he didn't have space for tools & equipment of the job. And current vehicle is not secure.
Wreckers offered $700 + donations + $150 = Safe road legal Van = new start = gainful employment.
FYI - We have found a Van for him to buy for 4k that has a new WOF, Rego till end of year has roof racks & is perfect for landscaping Gardens job & equipment.
Friend & advocate for everyone is deserving of fresh start, hand up & tools to flourish.. What if it was one of us as could happen in this cost of Living crisis or our kids.. we'd hope people wouldn't judge...
New Van, updating living space within Van, WOF, Rego & petrol to interviews.
