Fighting back against the corrupt nature of NZ's Insurance industry and biased Ombudsman
Pukekohe, Auckland
In September 2022 I suffered a head injury while working that's made me unable to work full time.
As part of my jobs compensation I had a Life insurance policy including total and permanent disability.
I applied for total and permanent disability as it seemed unlikely I would be able to return to full time employment.
Through the claims process the insurance company relied on false and inaccurate information, trivialized the sexual abuse I suffered as a child, lied to me constantly and broken every promise they made.
When my claim reached deadlock and I filed with the Ombudsman, they sided with the insurance company in a showing of blatant bias, stating that they had the right to use false and inaccurate information.
The Insurance company claimed my head injury was no longer relevant. That my only barrier was "partially treated depression" which is actually PTSD from childhood sexual assault.
When asked "If my head injury is no longer relevant , why am I not at my pre injury ability?
They refused to even acknowledge the question.
When asked "Why have I been able to work full time in the past with my PTSD but I cant now?"
They refused to answer.
When provided evidence from my GP stating if my head injury were no longer relevant id be back where I was preinjury, they ignored it.
The Ombudsman said they have this right. Despite proving their claim to be false.
I have been failed by both Ombudsman and the insurance company
All I asked was fair treatment, neither was willing to give it.
I am putting my goal at what my policy was for. Funds raised will go towards minimizing the impact of my injury and if possible challenging my insurance company in court and forcing them to acknowledge their failures.
