Landlord is selling the house!!! We have 90 days to move and we don't have the funds to cover move-in and relocation costs.
Auckland
Hi all,
Our landlord recently informed us they would be selling the house sometime next year.
Ok...time to buckle down and start saving.
Last night, we got our 90 Day Notice!!! WE AREN'T READY!!
We understand the choice to sell. This property is a developers dream. 4 houses could fit here, maybe even 6!!!
So we need to find a new place for us and our blended family of 4 boys, aged 5 months to 17 years. One has special needs, and we need to accommodate my mum, as we do now. She stays with us regularly as she works in Auckland but doesn't return to her home outside of Hamilton every day.
Through hardship and circumstances in our past, we both have accumulated debts that while being duly serviced, are somewhat crippling.
The financial goal has been left open but our primary aim is to attain the estimated $3,000 to $4,000 move-in costs. Excess donations, if any, will be used to clear our debts so our income can be used on increased market rents.
We were fortunate to have not had a rent increase in the 8 years we called this place home. As such, current prices are at least $100 more per week than what we pay now. It's going to be a stretch!!!
The closing date is set for early in the New Year in a cheeky bid to capitalise on the Christmas Spirit, and also to benefit from those with New Years resolutions to "GIVE A LITTLE more". :-)
We understand people may not be willing to give to a cause such as ours, believing we should have been better prepared.
As such we aren't thinking "She'll be 'right" because we have set up this page.
We will be selling what we can, and we will try negotiate lower payment terms with our debtors.
We'll tighten our belts in other areas too.
Hey, if through some crazy generosity this thing takes off, we'd love to be putting down a deposit on a home instead of checking the FOR RENT pages.
That would make me cry!!!
Thanks for your time.
Kind regards,
Ossie Letelier
P.S. Let these lyrics from Arrested Development's "Mr Wendal" float around in your head...
"Here, have a dollar,
in fact no brotherman here, have two
Two dollars means a snack for me,
but it means a big deal to you"
Just a man doing his best to provide for his family, asking a favour.
