Let's give back and spread some love to the Simmons family

  • Sad news

      18 August 2023

Thank you so much to everyone for their kind donations. After a long battle and multiple hospital stays Grace-Hyde passed away this week, peacefully and surrounded by much love.

Sadly Grace-Hyde was only weeks away from being able to leave the house in the new electric chair after being 7 months trapped inside.

The money you have kindly donated will be utilised to celebrate Grace-Hyde’s life.

Thank you all for your generosity.

  • More freedom

      8 July 2023

One step closer to getting out of the house after 6 months!! An electric wheelchair that Hyde Grace can sit in for many hours means time out of bed socialising with the family in the home. It has also most importantly allowed time to be spent with the pets including the rats as there is the ability to go into that room and sit close to the cage.

Currently awaiting a ramp so the chair can actually get out of the house. Yes, something as basic as a ramp which will mean freedom and the ability go places they’re hanging in there to visit including the family favourite of Mission Bay.

    Please pray this happens soon.

  • Thank you

      6 June 2023

Thank you to all those who have continued to support the Simmons family as they ride this rollercoaster.

Apologies I haven’t had the opportunity to reply to each of you separately recently.

Short update, Grace Hyde has unfortunately been back in hospital this past week fighting two infections. Much improvement over the past few days and drinking lots of hot chocolate- seems to be a favourite!

Just awaiting the delivery of a motorised wheelchair, hopefully within the next couple of week, so the family can start having some time outdoors together- it’s been over 4 months waiting for this moment! I know they’re planning some trips out, including a trip to the pub, much deserved I feel.

Thank you all again for your donations and I shall let Janice catch you up when things are a little more settled.

Well it's already been 1month since we came home from hospital. We are getting used to the new routine of Carers coming in twice a day, District nurses physio OT and Mercy Hospice all visit regularly and are an amazing support for us. I'm finally getting used to all the equipment and we are developing a new routine all of which has been very overwhelming at times. Thank you from my heart to those who have donated so far I'm very grateful. We have a long journey ahead of us and are still learning more about this rare sarcoma, at the moment it's one day at a time. Grace-Hyde is comfortable and finally well enough to be reunited with the fur babies and laptop!

I will be doing regular updates and please share this page with others.

    Bless you

    Janice Simmons
