  • Grateful

      10 February 2021

How grateful we are for all the love, prayers and gifts that many have helped us with. The journey is not over as far as rehabilitation goes, but all that people have given has been , and will be such a help and such a blessing to David. We are so grateful and humbled.

Give a little. I would personally like say to all the kind and generous friends and family out there how your love and kindness has helped me so much on my way to recovery. It was only last night that my family shared a copy of the Give a Little sheet, with me. I felt so blessed and grateful for people how come into our life's. My reply is thank you so much. Getting physically better and been able to walk is so lovely. Even on hard day's in the Hospital wing my mind would think what would Colin or Nathan say and a smile would come on my face, no drugs involved just great friends. Since I have got back home I really need to thank my Physio instructor Jarrod who has helped with my eye sight and balance. My head still needs to do some balancing and settling, but so much further down the track of recovery. From the love of my heart please accept this as a kind and loving Thank you. David Harrington

  • A walking miracle

      2 December 2020

We had the privilege of getting to Southland at last to visit David at home. He is a walking miracle. David has some challenges with his short depth eyesight, and needs rest periods each day, but is walking every day to exercise, has physio and occupational therapy help and is well on his way to living a great life. We are so proud of his courage and determination in the face of such a curve ball.

The family have been so overwhelmed by the generosity of both friends and strangers and extend their heartfelt gratitude.

  • David has gone home

      17 November 2020

We are so happy to share that David has been discharged from hospital and has gone home.

He is so grateful for all of the aroha sent his way during this time. There is still some journeying to go with rehab and recovery.

please advise if there is still a financial shortfall for his care. Glad to hear he is recovering

  • Rehab under way.

Day 46- although this was taken a few days ago, David is now changed to room 5 ( although has 77 on the door) how to confuse people! He’s learned the number though. Physically has made great gains, brain - a few crossed wires at times, but everyday I see improvements. He's really wanting to come home and forgets why he’s here at times . With a wee reminder David realises he’s on a journey of healing and this is a necessary means to an end. It can be like Ground Hog day for him sometimes. Please pray for peace for him and patience and continued healing. Thank you all so much (proposed date of discharge 4th Nov) or sooner if ticks all the boxes 💜💜💜".

Hi Chris. Hope David is still making good progress and is ticking the boxes for his discharge from hospital. He is often in our thoughts.

  • Out of Intensive Care Unit!

      27 August 2020

This is the latest from Davids wife Kerry

    Day 14

Back up in a chair early afternoon, a little movement in left arm and leg when not exhausted and we ask him questions he is nodding more

Was moved to HDU which is across the corridor from ICU , just a bigger cubicle with windows

Able to look at me more or the nursing staff

Still not sleeping well at night due to pain and I think maybe sick of being in bed ( and who can blame him) but he can’t be in the chair too long at this stage

Prayer requests as was mentioned yesterday !

Thank you again to all who’ve sent cards, and called in to see me

And all the other wonderful gifts for David’s recovery.

Also just to let you know if you are thinking of visiting David, I will let you know when he can have visitors outside the immediate family, as as yet he is only allowed immediate family as it’s too exhausting for him at the moment and I know he wouldn’t be keen for people to see him in his present state. Thank you guys 💜💜❤️❤️

Hi everyone David’s wife Kerry here, I just wanted to personally thank you all for your generosity towards David and I and the family! We are truly overwhelmed by all the giving!

David is progressing physically very well, he is up walking with a walking frame to the toilet and has many of his tubes out. He still has a tracheostomy and a nasogastric feeding tube and can’t talk, but sometimes whites on a white board how grateful he is to the staff and everyone for all the help, his Memory is not good esp short term and has some amnesia but with rehabilitation prayer and time I am optimistic this will improve!

Thank you again- The Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you, the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace!

Hi, many of us who have been praying are wondering how David is progressing. Hope he is continuing to improve. He crosses my mind on a daily basis and I think that will be true for many of us. An update when you have time would be great.
