Unfortunately Erin's cancer has become more aggressive and she has now been moved to the Otago Community Hospice. Her family are spending as much time with her as they can during this time.

  • An update on Erin

      24 December 2024

Thank you to everyone who has so generously donated to Erin’s Give a Little page.

Last week, Erin ended up back in hospital. She had been pretty miserable, with her melanoma pushing on her brain creating a large amount of nausea, vomiting and pain.

With limited options she was offered surgery which hopefully can be followed by the immunotherapy cancer treatment.

Erin had surgery in Dunedin yesterday and had 4 tumours out. She has come through surgery well and has now been moved from ICU to an observational unit. She is much more awake today, so things are looking positive so far. All the support is very much appreciated by the whole family.

I had a great evening, meeting a cancer survivor who is still with us after a decade. She told me to forget about the diagnosis and get living. I would like to thank everyone who has supported me this month! From the give a little page, to meals, parcels and visits. I feel like I have turned a corner, and hope I keep progressing forwards. Friends and family are definitely the key to healing. I also really enjoy potting native plants at the picnic table! It's been such a change in lifestyle with losing my driver's licence. But with change comes other opportunities I had always dreamed of chasing. Here's to health, and friendships and longevity.

  • Update from Erin 28th Oct

      28 October 2024

Thank you so much for the kind words, donations and support. Craig and I were both brought up by our families to give and help more than you take. We have always enjoyed volunteering and helping in our community. It's a massive adjustment to our psyche to actually need this help ourselves now, and receiving it has often made me become teary eyed with the genuine kindness people have displayed. It's my goal now, to receive this kindness without feeling sadness and accept I would only do the same for anyone else. I really appreciate it. I will challenge myself whenever I waiver from this goal and feel sad.💖💖 Erin
