We're raising funds to assist with the cost of Kirstin's ongoing treatment.
Lake Hāwea, Otago
If you've spent time in the Hawea community, chances are you've met Kirstin. Whether she's rescuing abandoned kittens through Hawea Cat Rescue, volunteering at Cromwell Speedway, supporting local businesses, or donating her time and products through Bare Naked Soap, she's always the first to help others.
What many people don't know is that Kirstin is also a cancer survivor. At just 32, she was diagnosed with lymphoma and underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapy. While the treatment successfully eliminated the cancer, the radiation left her highly vulnerable to skin cancers.
In recent weeks, Kirstin has undergone two surgeries to remove a basal cell carcinoma from beneath her eye. She now has several more suspicious lesions requiring treatment and faces ongoing annual surveillance for life. Due to lengthy public health wait times, much of this care must be funded privately, creating a significant financial burden.
Despite these challenges, Kirstin remains the same generous, positive person who gives so much to others.
Now it's our turn to support her.
We're raising funds to help cover the cost of Kirstin's ongoing treatment and ensure she can access the care she needs without added financial stress. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference.
Thank you for supporting someone who has given so much to our community.
With love and appreciation,
Bron & Kate
