Lets support Volunteer FireFighter Pete Ottley and his family

  • Thank you from Pete Ottley - Part Two

      10 April 2025

To all the Fire Brigade volunteers, St John, Fire and Emergency who have called, messaged, or sat down for a yarn - thank you! Hearing your own stories and knowing I’m not alone in this has meant the world to me. What we do as volunteers isn’t for the glory, it’s for our communities. And to be part of a team that shows up, no matter what, to help others get home safe... that’s something truly special. The work we do matters and it makes a difference. Thank you for looking after me, for protecting me and for letting me know that it’s okay to feel this way.

To our amazing wider community—thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your kindness, your care and your generosity have been overwhelming. The support we’ve received has truly helped carry us through.

To everyone who donated to the Givealittle page, I can’t thank you enough. Every contribution has made a difference and it’s allowed me to focus on healing and finding my feet again. It’s something I’ll never ever forget.

I’m working on getting better and once I do, I look forward to catching up with as many of you as I can - and being one of those people who helps others through tough times, just like you did for me.

    Thank you!

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has helped us through this incredibly tough time. I never thought something like this would happen to me.

As someone who’s always seen himself as a strong, dependable alpha male who steps up first to make sure the team/injured are safe—it’s been humbling and eye-opening to be on the other side of things.

This experience has hit me hard and it’s bought about some real challenges in my life. But with the love and support from my family, friends and the wider community, I’ve been reminded of just how lucky I am.

The calls, the messages, the conversations and check-ins... I honestly don’t know how to repay you all. What I do know is that if you ever see me out and about, I’d love to catch up and give back the kind of support you’ve shown me. It means everything.

A massive thank you to Katherine Lamont—the work you’ve done for our family is nothing short of incredible. Having you fighting for my cause along with my amazing partner has made a world of difference. Katherine you are an absolute machine and I’m so grateful for all you’ve done, along with getting the ACC petition underway. Please know that you’ve made a huge impact on our lives and we appreciate all your hard work behind the scenes.

      31 March 2025

Well, it's been a busy time with the Petition - 25,335 signatures! Closes on the 30th April. Please keep supporting this, as it's important that help is more readily available for our Volunteers going forward.
