Adonis Vihaan was born premature on 15th of January this year. A very happy and calm son of Elvis and Alice D. Garrison, younger brother to 2 year old Filiolus. After the tests, the doctors said everything seemed okay with this premature child. One of his kidneys was dilated at birth, but the doctors did not say it was something to be worried about.
Adonis seemed quite dull ever since he has his immunization in the last week of June. On 03/07, Adonis fell unconscious in his father's arms after he was given Paracetamol as prescribed by GP the same day. Unable to understand what happened, Elvis called for an ambulance and was asked to perform CPR on the child.
They were taken to the Waikato hospital right away and treated in ER. Several doctors worked together to see what is going on with the child, but could not come to a conclusion. All they said was that Adonis was very critical, not even breathing on his own and they are trying everything they can. After a few hours, Adonis seemed to be a little better than how he was a couple of hours ago, still unconscious. They then , sedated Adonis so that he could rest and respond to medications. The doctors then sent him for a brain scan and informed the parents that they will keep him under observation for next 48 hours.
In the morning of 04/07, Adonis was better than the previous night. His blood pressure stopped fluctuating and was trying to breathe on his own and the parents had hope that he is going to improve shortly. The doctors figured out that Adonis had a cardiac arrest when he was brought to ER and that there were chances of permanent organ damages, but could not tell anything until Adonis was conscious.
Adonis was flown to Auckland Middlemore Hospital on 05/07 where he was kept under close observation. On 07/07, the doctors spoke to parents and advised them he was still critical and has suffered loss of vision and hearing. Blood circulation was halted towards brain and because of that some portion of the brain is damaged. Now he can't breathe on his own and depends on a ventilator.
After this difficult battle of decision making, the parents decided that they can't see him in pain anymore. And as suggested by one of the doctors, they have decided to take him off the ventilator and leave everything in the hands of God. If God is willing, Adonis may be able to stay strong and keep breathing. However, there is a good chance this little baby may not be able to hold on any more and maybe God needs him more than any of us.
The father is the only person working in the family and has not been working since mid of last week to be with Adonis. In this difficult time for his child's family, let us try and help his family so that they have one less thing to worry about - the expenses, just in case, if things don't go the way the parents have planned, and if at all they have to let Adonis go.
I am a family friend of Elvis & Alice as they are busy at the hospital I am trying my best to help them creating this page with their consent
His father Elvis is the sole earner of the family of four. Help him with the burial and funeral cost of his baby & also with his living expenses as he is on leave from work and has a family to look after. Rest of the amount will be given for charity.
