    THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU !!!

    48 generous donations from all over the world now means that Nurse Maude Hospice, Christchurch will be able to purchase a long(er) medical bed to better serve end of life care for tall people...

    One year ago, I set up this Give A Little page to raise funds for the medical bed and I was inspired by my ambitious friend to climb Ben Nevis in the UK. It was a worthy challenge physically and mentally especially after scattering Neil's ashes the previous day. But we got there... one foot in front of the other...

    I met with Kelly and Cheryl at Nurse Maude Hospice recently. They were extremely thankful for the donation and are planning to publish an article highlighting my fundraising efforts in their upcoming newsletter

    I have been blessed with fabulous family and friends who have supported me through the ups and downs... I'm so very grateful xxx

  • Fingers crossed...

    Just a quick update... I have extended the closing date for my Give-A-Little 'Lighten the Load for Hospice' page so there's a wee bit of extra time to reach the target amount. Fingers (and toes!) crossed!!!

  • ONE YEAR AGO...

    This time last year, Neil was receiving end-of-life care at Hospice. It was a very difficult time, and the wonderful staff worked tirelessly to overcome the challenge of caring for a 'long-limbed patient'. I remember the effort required to complete Neil's daily cares while maintaining his comfort as gravity seemed determined to pull him down towards the end of the bed.

    I'm so deeply grateful to everyone who has generously donated to this page with the purpose of purchasing of a longer medical bed to better serve tall people in Hospice!

  • WE DID IT!!!

    What an epic adventure! It wasn’t easy, but we made it to the top of Ben Nevis! We couldn’t see the top when we started and that was probably just as well… it took us 9 hours to go up and come back down. Such a fantastic feeling of achievement and I’m sure Neil was watching over us (and probably thinking we were all a bit bonkers haha)

    A massive THANK YOU for all your extremely generous donations made so far to my 'Give A Little' page, "Lighten the Load" for the Nurse Maude Hospice in Christchurch. I have been overwhelmed by everyone's generosity!

    It's not long now until I join friends and family to walk up Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Scotland to honour my dear Neil and raise more funds. It will be challenging but not as challenging as what Neil had to deal with after his melanoma diagnosis. Thanks again for your support and for sharing this page.
