Limelight Dance Academy - LDA to LA

Limelight Dance Academy is a dancing school located in Hamilton, Waikato. This school has a group of twenty two students fundraising to attend specialised dance workshops in the USA in September 2016.

They will also be performing a specifically choreographed dance at Disneyland, LA. These students are undertaking the huge task of raising $5,000 each to cover their costs.

Dancing means so much to these young people and encourages them to excel and achieve physically, emotionally and creatively.

"I started dancing about the same time I started walking and it has always been a huge part of my life! I love Jazz and Ballet but I also enjoy Hip Hop and Musical Theatre. I am sooo excited about the trip to LA and the opportunity to dance at Disneyland, I can't wait!" - Aimee 12 years.

"I like to dance because it makes me feel happy and it is because of how it makes you feel that I don't mind what other people think of me doing it as a boy. My favourite is ballet and it would be really cool if more boys did it and didn't think it was odd or girlie. It actually makes you really strong because of all the muscles you have to use when dancing." - Mason.

"Dancing to me is a place I can go to shut out the stress and pressure of daily life and just dance, which is my passion, what I love and makes me feel happy." - Emilie 15 years.

"I suffer from depression and anxiety. The last few years have been really hard, if it wasn't for dance and the amazing way it makes me feel I may have given up. Dancing is what makes me feel happy and keeps me going" - Beth S. 17 years.
