Te Ataarangi is a 4 year old beautiful baby girl just diagnosed with leukaemia and then her parents car gets stolen!
Auckland
Te Ataarangi is a 4 year beautiful girl. On Thursday 1st August 24 she was diagnosed with Leukaemia and is starting her journey on a three year chemotherapy schedule.
Thanks to the Ronald McDonald House the whanau have a place to stay while Te Ataarangi goes through her treatment which they are very grateful for. After settling into their apartment at Ronald McDonald house, Mum and Dad drove down to the local supermarket to buy some groceries and upon their return discovered their car had been stolen.
Hailing from Rotorua, this is a very upsetting time for them to be away from home, dealing with Te Ataarangi's diagnosis and now no vehicle to get back home or run local errands. They are a hard working normal kiwi whanau trying to make ends meet and this is like a real kick in the guts to them.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated to help take away some of the pressures they are currently facing. Anything will be much appreciated.
My brothers daughter. Her father (my brother ) passed away only 4 years ago.
Buy a new vehicle, subsidise our increased living expenses with one part of the whanau in Rotorua and the other in Tamaki, and we would love to do Atarangi's bedroom up for when she finally gets home.
Funds will be paid to Te Ataarangi's mother, Skye.
LATEST UPDATE- CAR FOUND! 28 August 2024
Kia ora whanau, friends and all of the generous people who have given to our cause.
We have an update. OUR CAR HAS BEEN FOUND,,,,and it was NOT STOLEN.
It seems (and yes, we are so very embarrassed) it was right where we left it. Long story short, in our state of zombiness (if that's a word) we parked one level down from where we thought we had parked.
This is such an embarrassing update and we are so very grateful for the love and support you have been providing us while we look after our baby girl.
We are very remorseful if it appears we have mislead anyone and if you wish to claim a refund of your contribution, please get in touch with Givealittle via helpdesk@givealittle.co.nz by next Friday, September 6th.
In the meantime, we are forever grateful to you all for your kind donations and we will look to sell our car and an old truck we recently purchased to buy something more reliable knowing we have many return trips ahead of us between Rotorua and Starship Hospital.
Thank you to all of the amazing staff at Starship, Ronald McDonald House, other families we have just met who are sharing similar grief and of course you, who have provided much prayer, words of encouragement and support through this turbulent time.
With the donations we have received we plan to buy a new vehicle, subsidise our increased living expenses with one part of the whanau in Rotorua and the other in Tamaki, and we would love to do Atarangi's bedroom up for when she finally gets home.
Thank you again for all of your support
