Help baby Carter. Currently he is in Starship undergoing a liver transplant

Hawke's Bay

Carter was born on the 14th January 2014. From birth Carter struggled to feed and sleep and at just eight weeks old, he was rushed up to Starship hospital where he was diagnosed with Alagille syndrome. Alagilles is a condition that affects the liver, kidneys, heart and various other body organs depending on its severity. Unfortunately, Carter has suffered with a severe case and is battling with liver disease. He constantly has jaundice, itchy skin, he has trouble eating and sleeping and has to be tube fed at night. In his first year he was in and out if hospital and had to use a nasal tube because he couldn't put any weight on. Recently Carter was sent back to Starship where he had a gastrostomy and was treated for liver failure. He was then listed for a liver transplant and tested for kidney and heart problems as well. There is no cure for Alagille syndrome and Carter will have this for the rest of his life. The family are currently having to make huge lifestyle changes to improve his quality of life and could use all the help they can get. The family have had to install a HRV unit and make various household renovations to accomodate Carters poor immune system.

Carter is currently undergoing his liver transplant in Starship. Our positive thoughts are with him and his family at this moment.

Heather Christie's involvement (page creator)

I am involved because I am Carters Aunty and I have witnessed the first year of his struggles. I would like to help my family because they are such incredible people and no one should have to worry about financial problems while dealing with their sick child.
