Recovery for our ill kittens

  • Speedy, Amo and Nala

Speedy, Amo and Nala are putting on weight nicely, becoming much quicker and more agile and turning into fat little rascals - they will follow Jo all over the house now that they are well enough to get some extra exercise.

They are slowly learning not to walk off the edge of couches (having fostered for years Jo is adept at catching surprise kamikaze balls of fluff), and while Speedy will follow Jo everywhere, Nala and Amo will explore and like sitting under chairs and tables playing hide and seek.

Amo likes to lie on his back for cuddles while Nala will always go to the furthest end of your arm despite the fact that she's likely to fall off. They are stalking, chasing and playing with toys and each other.

  • RIP little Bug

Heartbreakingly, little Bug passed away overnight on Sunday 22nd March. He was not improving or putting on weight as well as his brothers and sister, and while he was bright and alert he failed to thrive - vet clinic staff agree that there may have just been too much damage caused by the coccidia parasite before he could start medication. Coccidiosis has an initial 13 day period of infection before the kittens start showing symptoms, so these babies and a lot of our previous foster kittens have had to fight the infection on their own for 2 weeks before their illness became apparent, and sometimes by the time they start showing symptoms of illness, the damage is already done.

    Rest in Peace, Bug.
