Well this year he is 7yrs old and has come up with a bigger challenge, to ski the length of New Zealand for the Cancer Society of NZ,

Otago

Last year Lochie, (6yrs old) skied at Cardrona Alpine Resort for 40 days to celebrate Cardrona’s 40th birthday. Also he set himself the challenge to raise money for the Cancer Society of New Zealand, which he raised over $10,000. He decided to do this because when Lochie was 4, his Mum was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer, and the people from the Cancer Society came out to visit and helped us through this time. Lochie is such a kind and caring kid, and when I asked him who he wanted to fundraise for, the Cancer Society was the first organisation he said. The story of how the whole idea came about is a very cool one.

He gained Nationwide coverage from Newshub, newspapers and then a large number of social media posts from different companies, Toyota NZ and Hino Trucks to name a few.

Well this year he is 7yrs old and has come up with a bigger challenge, to ski the length of New Zealand covering all the ski fields South to North. All the while raising money for the Cancer Society of NZ, and also to highlight to the country that we have some really awesome ski fields and we need to get out and visit them and promote them to the world so when covid is over and done with, people can come and visit our awesome ski fields from south to north.

And he is also doing the whole challenge on Mountainflow Eco-Wax a plant based wax to let others know there are alternatives when it comes to different types of ski wax, Lochie is all about looking after our environment and after last year he seen how much wax we used when he found out that wax ended up in the snow melt he really pushed to find a better way, So we reached out to Peter Aelein, The founder of Mountainflow Eco-Wax in the USA and asked if he was keen to come on board with Lochie's challenge to ski all the nz fields on his plant based wax and he is really excited to be on board.

Lochie wants to show New Zealand a story of how even with all the day to day madness we go through as people, If we each take the time to do something for others we have never met it might just show to others the kiwi spirit is still alive and well.

We are planning on starting in the south and heading north,

We will be doing it the good old fashioned kiwi way and camping out in our caravan we will set up in each base town to then cover each ski field as we head north.

Lochie would be really grateful for any help along the way of this massive challenge, And to top it all off at the end of his challenge Lochie will be a guest speaker again at the Naylor Love & Cancer Society annual fundraising show in Queenstown Saturday 25th september and to showcase the highlights from his challenge.

Hi I'm Lochie's dad Luke my role is pit crew for Lochie to help take care of all the day to day stuff, and to help my awesome little 7 year old help other people in this world.

Use of funds

This year Lochie has been doing a lot of thinking on what he would like the funds to go towards,

and in true style of how Lochie thinks about things he has came up with the idea to fundraise to buy new equipment that is needed at all the Daffodil Houses
