Raising funds to help support the care of those who have leukaemia.
Mount Maunganui, Tauranga
Our dear friend Chris Wilton-Jones of Mount Maunganui has received the rocking news on 15 February that he has a very aggressive form of acute myeloid leukaemia.
On advice from a Waikato Hospital oncology specialist, Chris will not be undergoing chemotherapy treatment and has returned to the Mount to be surrounded by family and friends at this time.
“Please pray for a miracle healing,” says Chris. “One day you are paddle boarding around and climbing the Mount and nek minute…BOOM. I’m sure most of you will be shocked. There’s no rhyme or reason to why these things happen.
“I love Jesus Christ, that’s where the saving grace is. My chin is high, my spirit is very strong, because I have a caring God that loves us all.”
Many are asking how can they show love, support and help at this time.
We encourage you to:
- Pray for Chris’s healing, and Chris asks that you all please read Romans 10:9 and Isaiah 57:1-2.
- Email encouragements to Chris at longlivechriswj@gmail.com
- Donate to this page. This will help with costs for Chris’s care. Any additional funds left over will be donated to Waipuna Hospice to help support other families.
Thank you
Chris is one of my closest friends and is a staunch supporter of many local community projects that Rise Up Tauranga and other organisations and churches have undertaken.
Funds raised will go towards Chris's costs, as well as family costs as they travel to and stay nearby while wrapping strength, love and care around Chris. Additional funds left over will be donated to Waipuna Hospice to help support other families.
Message from Chris 2 April 2022
Chris has asked me to share with you his heartfelt thanks to everyone who has given money, love and support, and appreciates so much all the messages he has been sent over the last month. We have read out the emails to him, and he has seen all the messages posted here as well, and it's filled his heart with warmth and given him strength to go way beyond the two weeks he was originally told he had.
He's also been able to spend precious time with family - he's cherished this time and they've been able to have days away together.
For the last two weeks, Chris has been in Tauranga Hospital after having to be suddenly taken in there by ambulance. This is because he has had pneumonia on top of the acute myeloid leukaemia. Then this last week he also tested positive for Covid-19. He has been in isolation, but daily posting updates to his Facebook page. You can read these at https://www.facebook.com/chris.wiltonjones
This morning Chris's family were finally allowed to be at his side, and are there supporting him. We are all praying for a miracle. Because of you all he has been living life loved very much this last month with hundreds of messages. Thank you for helping with such a great out-pouring of love in this very tangible way of donations on Givealittle.
Long Live Chris.
