Long road to recovery for a young mum!!

  • Chelsea’s 5 month update 🙏🏽

It’s been 5 months since the horrible accident!

I thought I would give you a update with how chelsea and her family are getting on, but firstly I want to say a massive thank you from Chelsea and her family! With your generous donations they were able to purchase a suitable car that was wheelchair friendly, rent a house for 6 months and set the girls up in a local school, overall this has played a huge part in supporting there day to day costs being a family of 6.

On the 31st March Chelsea got the approval to start putting weight on her leg! This was amazing as you know we have gone from potential amputation to being told “you can put weight on your leg”, this is truely a blessing ♥️ Chelsea still continues to have monthly visits to the Chch hospital, on going physio appointments and ongoing treatments with complications along the way.

When we get together we continue to talk about you all and how generous you all are and how lucky we are to have you in our corner through this journey we appreciate you all! I will be back to give you another update along the way 🙏🏽🙏🏽

Oh! Chelsea what an amazing strong woman you are! Such wonderful news about your leg. Your children look gorgeous and so happy to have their mum back. Mustn’t forget your supportive husband. I’m sure he is so relieved to have the love of his life smiling again. It has been such a difficult road for you and you look fabulous! I’m so glad you have a strong network of people around you and hopefully be able to return to normal life again soon. 🙏

God Bless all. 🌸💌 Angela in AUS

  • Merry Xmas and thank you ♥️🎅🏼

Firstly we would like to say thank you so so much from the bottom of our hearts to each and every single one of you that have donated and have continued to share this post and to those who have sent kind messages and reached out in other ways your messages have made this process so much better ♥️

I last updated you when Chelsea was going in for her major surgery and all went extremely well with needing to do a little less than they had planned so that was great news!

Chelsea is on the mend and has left hospital after a long 5 weeks and 9 massive surgeries.

She is not allowed to put any weight on the leg for the next 3 months and will remain in a wheelchair. She is just so thankful she can be surrounded by her family on xmas day 🙏🏽

Chelsea has made a plan to continue her stay in nz for the next 6 months while she continues to make her leg stronger than ever! Chelsea would love to go home to Australia but sadly this is just not affordable with loosing help from acc for medical if she does.

Update on Pippa - she has had her cast removed Friday last week just before xmas so she is so so happy!

Thank you again for everything if I could line you all up and give you hug I would! You have all been amazing thank you ♥️

    Merry Christmas 🎅🏼🎅🏼🎅🏼

Be safe and have a happy new year 🙏🏽

  • A MESSAGE FROM CHELSEA

I thought it was time to jump on and give another update to all of the amazing people that have been so supportive.

3 weeks in and unfortunately I am still stuck in a hospital bed with 8 surgeries up my sleeve with another Friday.

I am so lucky to have both my legs but yet to know at this stage how they will work or what they are going to look like.

I have had so many positive outcomes but just as many knock downs.

Sorry I haven’t got back to many messages but I am thankful to be in your thoughts.

I will forever be grateful for all the support, help and love my babies have received ✨

  • Chelsea’s Surgery #7

      3 December 2022

    Good Morning All,

Chelsea received her 6th surgery yesterday with positive feedback from the doctors able to repair Chelsea’s femur bone.

Chelsea is unfortunately in a lot of pain and is likely to be placed back on to ketamine.

Monday is the biggie, she will go back under to have her latissimus dorsi removed and placed on her leg to replace lost muscle from lack of blood loss. This is going to be crucial to get this right but we have faith in Chelsea’s doctors.

Please keep Chelsea in your thoughts over this weekend.

And again thank you for your donations 😘 you are all beautiful!

  • Support!

      1 December 2022

We believe the funds incurred by this beautiful family exceed the original $50,000 due to the lack of support met by both the New Zealand and the Australian Government.

  • Update on ACC & Chelsea!

      1 December 2022
    Main image

Firstly, thank you all for your donations during this time we appreciate you so much and it’s so nice to be surrounded by such caring people! All your comments are so heartwarming, so thank you!

Tomorrow is the day my beautiful cousin (Chelsea) 02/12/2022 takes on a massive surgery where they will remove her back lateral muscle and wrap this around her leg in order to try and save the leg! This is her last chance of hope which is an 80% chance. The next 12 months will involve Chelsea learning to walk again and rebuilding the strength in her back.

We have also been informed ACC will not help with any support for Chelsea’s husband and 4 children ages 2-4-6-8, as you can imagine the children are so unsettled stressed and struggling! moving them around and separating them is not ideal, these kids need a safe space!

We would also like to say thank you to the social worker and Ranui House.

Chelsea is born and bred in New Zealand she is a kiwi! She deserves to be treated and given the care she deserves in her own country!
