    1) What is Loud Shirt Day?

Loud Shirt Day is the annual fundraising appeal dedicated to raising money for deaf children with cochlear implant or hearing aids.

    2) Where does my money go?

Money raised for Loud Shirt Day goes to The Hearing House and the Southern Cochlear Implant Programme so that deaf and hearing-impaired children get the therapy they need to listen and speak like hearing kids. The aim is for deaf children to focus on their abilities not their disability; both charities want deaf kids to be able to maximise their potential - so your donation helps deaf and hearing-impaired kids have a better future.

    3) Where are you located?

The Hearing House is based in Auckland and provides services to families living north of Turangi, and the Southern Cochlear Implant Programme is based in Christchurch and provides services to families in the rest of the country. Loud Shirt Day donations go to the region in which they were raised. Neither charity charges deaf children or their families for their services.

    4) How does Loud Shirt Day work?

It is really easy to get involved. Just register your organisation, school or community group online to fundraise and we will send you a free fundraising pack. Once it arrives, put up the posters and let everyone know that you are getting behind Loud Shirt Day. Ask everyone to wear their loudest, brightest shirt and to bring a donation to put into the fundraising box supplied in your pack. Once the day is over put the donations into the supplied banking bag and drop this into your nearest ASB or make a donation online. Easy!

    5) Why do I have to register to fundraise?

We ask you to register so that we can send a free Loud Shirt Day fundraising pack - containing a banking bag, stickers, posters, postcards and ideas to make your Loud Shirt Day bigger and brighter than ever.

    6) Can we hold Loud Shirt Day on another day?

Yes! Often schools and workplaces have got something else on during Loud Shirt Day so they elect to hold it on another day. We don't mind when you have it but do let us know if you're having it earlier so we can be sure to get your pack to you in time.

    7) When will I get my pack?

We start sending out information packs in early July so the earlier you register the earlier you will get your pack. This year we still have our shirt-shaped collection boxes due to popular demand. These are ideal to put on the reception desk at your work or, if you're in a retail outlet, on the counter to encourage more people to donate and help deaf children.

    8) When will I get my receipt?

If you have made a donation online then it will be sent to you straight away. If you have dropped your donation into your nearest ASB branch in the banking bag that was supplied in your fundraising pack then it may take a couple of weeks to be emailed to you. We will send the receipt to the email address that was supplied when you registered your organisation or yourself.

    9) What if I need more posters or other fundraising material?

Email loudshirtday@hearinghouse.co.nz and advise us what you need.

    10) How do I make my donation?

It’s very simple. Just click on the Donate button and you can make an automatic donation via our secure website.

    Or post a cheque to:

The Hearing House, PO Box 74022, Greenlane, Auckland 1546

Or use the banking bag found in your Loud Shirt Day pack and drop it into any ASB branch around the country.

We'll send you a receipt once we've received the donation. If you have misplaced your banking bag please email loudshirtday@hearinghouse.co.nz and we'll send another one out to you.
