Love and support Meike

  • Feeling the love ❤️

      24 August 2022

On behalf of myself,(Paul) Abby and our amazing daughter Meike, we would like to extend our warmest and heartfelt thanks to the Te Anau community for the incredible support we have received from you all. Not only have we been blown away by the generosity of you all, so have all the doctors and nurses and other people going through what we are going through, as we relay to them what we have experienced from you all. They always come back to the comment " It must be good to live in a small town" .......it is! When we started on this journey, it was a complete shock as you all could well imagine, and the tears flowed freely. Just when you thought you could control it for a bit, the town rallied together, and finding out just how much love our community showed, would set us off again. It was a real weird bunch of emotions. We are doing better now as we have had time to process the information. We are now out of hospital and are in a motel. It is a bit outdated and modest but is all we need and the people who run it are fantastic. Meike is in hospital Monday Wednesday and Friday for chemo and steroids and bloods and transfusions and obs and...... but is handling it like a trooper (with the odd wobble) we have had visits from friends and family and it has been a welcome distraction. Anyway, we are taking every day as it comes as it is our only option really, but we will get through it! Meike said to me the other day that she would rather be sick than any of her friends ❤ heart of gold that one! Abby has always donated blood (such as today) and I am donating next week so we would appreciate if anyone that reads this post, would consider doing the same.

Once again, thank you all so much!! — with Abby Fountain.

    Just an update about Meike!

She started treatment today. And now the waiting game for 28 days to then test her again to see if she is responding well to the treatment. So Abby and Paul won’t know much until then.

Abby & Paul would like to thank everyone who is donating to the give a little page. Your love and support is felt and very heartwarming.

This October the Blood Foundation is back in Invercargill. Abby has always given blood she travels down every time she’s available, to give blood and if anyone can make it to Invercargill this October to give blood please do this is so important for not only Meike but New Zealanders 🙏

If Anyone would like to send Meike a card, pictures or anything like this

    Choc ward A6
