Bright girl with 5 year brain injury finally finds effective therapy - but can't work to afford it. Please help her return to working again.

Lower Hutt, Wellington

Maggie is a bubbly girl with much to give - she has endless passion for creative playful teaching and loves to dance.

She got her dream job as a math tutor in her last year of high school. She loved it so much she ran her own free sessions at her local library during school holidays. By popular demand it became her part time job.

It was the simple joys of seeing a student's face light up when they grasped a new concept, or dig into an algebra equation that used to terrify them that motivated her to keep tutoring alongside her full time university. She was class rep for many papers and her grades were all As in her first year.

Then she had her skateboard accident in 2021.

Her head injury involved a skull fracture, a stitch in her eyebrow and a concussion with a seizure and 40 minutes unconscious. Since then, she could not consistently work or study, although she misses it with all her heart. Her rehab journey has been difficult, with funded professionals unable to provide any lasting improvement.

Maggie is resilient, but even she has a limit. Forced to move house 10 times in 3 years and unable to work but needing money for help, she made do with what she had to make slow progress.

Recently many traumas from her living situations led to an attempt to end her life. She has found a practioner who brings her great relief, but needs help to afford more sessions to fully recover. A 90 minute session costs $900 but provides invaluable help to Maggie that she has found nowhere else.

Use of funds

One year of intensive talk therapy with a practioner who Maggie finds is able to provide very effective lasting support for her brain function, as it relieves CPTSD survival stress. A 90 minute session costs $900 but provides invaluable help to Maggie that she has found nowhere else. If the main goal isn't met, funds will be used for the sessions it covers.
