Maia's Journey
Nationwide
As some of you may or may not know Maia, our 6 year old daughter, sister, grand-daughter, niece and pal to many has been diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. As you could imagine this has come as a huge shock to everyone who loves Maia, on Wednesday the 29th of March she was airlifted to Perth Children's Hospital where a Lumbar puncture was performed and a port inserted into her her chest to allow for immediate Chemotherapy treatments, along with steroids - this no doubt has saved her life. Now Maia, Ellalee, Tim and extended Whanau have a 2 year long treatment programme ahead with Maia not being able to leave the hospital for the next 9 months. As you could imagine the financial pressure will be immense and any help to ease this will be greatly appreciated and allows us to focus on what is most important our girl Maia.
I am Ellalee's (Maia's Mum) sister and decided to create this page to relieve some of the finacial pressures for her at this time.
Travel costs, living expenses, everyday expenses etc
Update: 18 April 2023
Firstly I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated big or small, we are truly grateful.
Since starting her treatment a few things have come up - Maia now has a little device on her arm to check her sugar levels as she has steroid induced diabetes, meaning she will need insulin injections everyday. Maia has also been given a new diagnosis called Philadelphia Positive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, this new diagnosis is very uncommon which means there is another drug to be added into her chemo treatment. Maia has been super brave and we are all so proud of her. Will keep you all updated. Much love
