We bring the show to the local town hall then broadcast to the world.
Newtown, Wellington
We are a pro-democracy non-profit who wants to make sure all voters out there can be informed on the candidates standing in their area for local body elections. We started off in 2020 with 8 shows for the 2020 General Election, moved to 34 in 2022 local bodies, 31 in 2023 general election and 14 in 2024 in the Tauranga City Council special local bodies and 4 covering 3 local body by-elections.
In 2025 we plan to take It's in the Ballot to communities, only It's in the Bags TV cameras would go to, to bring 128 2 Hour It's in the Ballot Shows, and introducing the new community ward 1H show of 39 shows, over 8 weeks. Our show format helps those who can not attend a normal community lead meet the candidates meeting while also putting all candidates on the same playing field with equal number of questions from the community. Our shows are also livestreamed and recorded so voters can go back and watch the them online, at their own pace.
We are going to be doing shows from Wellington, across both sides of the Tararua ranges to Danniverk in the east and Fielding in the West. Then over to the Bay of Plenty covering location as far south as Murupara right up to Katikati in the North, then over to the Waikato to our second home, in Hamilton covering the greater Waikato. With Raglan out to the West, Te Aroha in the East and Tuakau in the North.
Accommodation for our volunteer crew, Fuel for our vehicles, bond for venue hire, printing and stationary, marketing, and refreshments for our candidates, cast and crew.
The February Update 6 March 2025
In February we have made more venue booking plus paid some deposits to secure the venues
Venue payment deposits made have been
The Little Theatre - Hutt City Mayoral Debate and City Wide Ward Councilors Shows - $78.75 Deposit
Te Puke War Memorial Hall - Western Bay of Plenty Mayoral Debate, Maketu-Te Puke Ward, Maketu Community Board and Te Puke Community Board
- $87.50 - Deposit
Also some sad news, but was suitable in the situation. We have dropped Waikato District Council from the format as their shows would be in week 3 of voting (week 9 of our production) and would not provide any benefit to voters in Waikato as the early birds would have already voted before our shows happened.
Our updated show figure is
120 2H Ward and Mayoral Debate shows
30 1H Community Board Debate shows
We will also be doing a Te Awanui Ward by-election special, next Thursday 13th March to see who will be Tauranga next Maori Ward Councilor
