Promoting community and mental well-being in rural communities

Nationwide

Farming today is not for the faint hearted. It is an incredibly taxing job, physically, mentally end emotionally. Farmers are faced with many challenges, they deal with the harsh elements and face droughts that often effect their livelihoods. Alongside that they are isolated. Farmers frequently feel anxious, depressed and lonely but don’t always reach out for help as there is a stigma that they have to be “tough as boots”. Farmers are so busy looking after their stock they often forget to look after their mental well-being.

Ashlee Paulsen's involvement (page creator)

Surfing for Farmers is an initiative started in Gisborne to help local farmers take a moment, get off the farm & have some fun with other good people - all to encourage mental healthiness. We want to get behind them and support this awesome idea.

Use of funds

All proceeds go to Surfing For Farmers to assist in buying surf boards and help bring it to more rural communities throughout nz, aiming to bring people together out on the water.
