1A meaning it’s in 1 ovary & inside it, not external.

Pretty much the best outcome possible!

They’ll monitor me via ultrasounds at 6 months, 12 months & 2 years. And at that point if there is no recurrence, I’ll be in complete remission 😍

I want to thank everyone for their generosity, through the GAL page etc. You guys have made the last 6 weeks being off work healing, so much easier with not having to stress about bills, mortgage etc.

It’s left us with a wee stepping stone to get life back to normal & enjoy some much needed familty time, planned for this summer 🥰

And a massive thank you to our family & friends who’ve stepped in and helped with caring for Jade, making us meals while I was stuck in bed, and for calling in and picking up the vacuum cleaner - we appreciate you all so much! 🫶🏻

Today has been a big day. I’m sad that my baby is growing up & turned 4 today, but I’m so incredibly elated to know I’ll be here to continue to watch her grow 🖤

Thank you for coming to my Ted talk 😂🫶🏻

    Love you guys,

    Spanny xxx

  • The long awaited update 🖤 Part 1

My Dr rang me little under 2 weeks ago.

So basically the “washing” they did (they filled my lower abdominal cavity with saline & then extracted the fluid and tested for cancer cells) showed no additional cancerous cells.

The other biopsies they took showed no cancerous cells.

So in a nutshell, there is no more cancer. They have got it all. I don’t need chemo or radiation. Worst case scenario they’ll want to do surgery to remove my other ovary just as a precaution, to stop a tumour developing there in future.

With ovarian cancer, it can be common for the tumour to attach itself onto other organs (most commonly the bowel, which can result in partial removal & coming out of surgery with a stoma). My tumour was encapsulated inside my ovary and the tests have shown that it is a type of tumour that doesn’t spread to other organs.

It can however reform in the other ovary.

Now they were pretty certain that it will not in my case.

However were “3 spots” within the tumour that they wanted a second opinion on, so they sent the findings up to the team in Auckland for a second opinion (basically to see whether or not they think these “spots” show indicators of it reforming on my other ovary).

They’d missed the cut off for the next weeks conference, so were to discuss my case at the conference the following week (today).

I got the phone call today - I DO NOT NEED ANOTHER SURGERY 🥳🙌🏻

It’s been confirmed that it is low grade Serous Ovarian cancer, stage 1A.

    See Part 2!

  • Update on Anna :)

      3 September 2023

Hey everyone, just a quick update on Span.

She had her surgery at the beginning of this week where they removed the cancerous tumour on her right ovary & also removed the right ovary & fallopian tube.

They took a heap of biopsies from surrounding organs & tissue while they were in there, to test for more cancer.

Anna had a long stay in hospital as it was a massive open surgery but is now resting at home with her family.

It will be a little wait until the results are back, but when they are we will share an update when Anna & her family have processed everything.

Anna & her whanau wish to thank everyone for their well wishes & also the many, many generous donations.

Anna & her family feel truly blessed & thankful for for all the amazing support they’ve received so far in this journey xo
