Kia Ora! My name is Manawa McLaughlin and I have been selected to represent NZ at the World Rowing Junior Championships in Lithuania.

I will be competing in the Junior Mens Double Sculls in Trakai, Lithuania from the 23rd of July - 9th of August. . On the 28th of May, I will be moving to Lake Karapiro to train with the rest of the Juniors prior to our departure overseas. It’s a dream come true to make the team and I am humbled to be representing the country on the world stage.

I am currently a Year 13 prefect at New Plymouth Boys High School and have been rowing for the past three seasons for my school and Clifton Rowing Club. My family and I have been through a tumultuous time over the past two years as my mum was diagnosed with a brain tumour and has had multiple surgeries and radiotherapy to get rid of it. This has caused an immense financial and emotional strain on us and rowing has been a great outlet for this stress.
