Fundraising for Te Puna Reo O Manga Tangaroa

Kaikohe, Northland

Kia ora e te whānau,

“Iti rearea, teitei kahikatea - ka taea”

Te Puna Reo o Manga Tangaroa is soooo close, we just need a little tautoko to get our kaupapa across the line.

WE NEED YOU!!

WE NEED YOUR TAUTOKO!!

WE NEED YOUR HELP!!

We are building a Fully Accessible, Full-Immersion Te Reo Māori Puna Reo, centered and inspired by our son Manga Tangaroa who has lifetime disabilities that we see as extraordinary capabilities.

Manga Tangaroa is only 3 years old and has already shown us so many miracles.

He was born with a rare brain condition and has already had 6 brain surgeries. He is our greatest treasure and our highest calling. When looking for an Early Childhood Education Centre for our tama Ariki, Manga Tangaroa, there was no option suitable for him that could cater to his health and disabilities as well as providing a “Kaupapa Māori'' Education in Kaikohe, situated in the Mid North of New Zealand. I returned home disheartened and knelt in prayer when I heard softly my Nanapa say, “Nōna tēnei whare, nōna tēnei Kura.” "(this is his house, this is his school)" At first I believed that to mean that we would homeschool our baby. Then the karanga became clear, we were to use the whare my Godparents and Nanapa built to make him his own kura.

Te Puna Reo o Manga Tangaroa will have space for 35 tamariki of all abilities between the ages of 0-6 years. The waiting list is already full! And we have our Kaiako ready to go including myself (mum) 😬

Our whānau have been our biggest supporters from listening to whakaaro, designing, building, sponsoring and babysitting so we can get on with the task at hand.

We love you all and are grateful to all those who have already been a big part of this journey that Manga Tangaroa and us his whānau are on. We already acknowledge the super efforts from ĀKAU! ,Whaout Builders! ,B.O.I Plumbing! ,North B.O.I Electrical! Tommy Tairua, WOODHEAD Excavation.

We need help with a live and interactive online concert, help with broadcasting online with excellent quality, promoting this concert and our kaupapa, help with some live acts, and even a superstar MC that can make this concert flow!! This is all for Manga Tangaroa’s first live concert. Him and his Aunty “Tisha” (Letitia Butler) have the headline act sorted and have been working hard practicing their stage set.

It will be like a telethon (golden days 😉) and sponsors will receive acknowledgement by plaques/sponsor boards or bricks. (Final details to be sorted).

We are also super keen to hear any other ideas you may have to support this kaupapa. We are really whakamā to ask for help, but the kaupapa is bigger than our pride, so in humility we are reaching out to our whānau, our friends, and anyone we can to tautoko this kaupapa. So far everything has been 100% funded by our growing whānau, Māmā, Pāpā and our 5 precious tamariki. Materials, resource and building consents, plans, car park, pathways, doors, windows, labourers, plumbing, bathrooms, paint, carpet, vinyl and the list goes on. We’ve managed to do all this on prayers so far, but now we need the cherries on top.

Whatever you can contribute will be gratefully accepted and appreciated.

Things we are fundraising for include:

Wheelchair lift $16,000

Sensory Room equipment $20,000

Mobility van $40,000

Rongoā Ngahere (Hands and expertise welcomed)
