My tribute to my wife Marsaili is cycling the 3,000km length of NZ, raising money for the 3 charities that provided us with so much support.
Hi, I'm Sam Cash. I'm an ambulance officer for St John in Taumarunui and farmed in Owhango for many years before that. My wife Marsaili and I were married for 40 years and sadly, she died on 13 December 2020.
She lived with kidney failure for over 28 years, needing dialysis for most of that time. Marsaili and I raised 3 children and she lived to see her 4 grandchildren begin their journey through life, living well beyond any life expectancy that her specialists gave her.
A friend described her as “not only the strongest woman he ever met, but the kindness and most caring”. This is my tribute to Marsaili.
I plan to cycle from the top-to-the-bottom of New Zealand and raise $30,000 for the three wonderful charities that supported us over the years.
My wife Marsaili lived with kidney failure for over 28 years and we were supported by these amazing charities for many many years.
The proceeds will be shared equally amongst St John NZ, Taumarunui Hope Charitable Trust and the Waikato Renal Health Trust. They'll each receive $10,000 if I reach my goal, with a further 5% going to Givealittle as per their standard terms.
Thank you for your support, we had a great life togethèr, somewhat challenging at time but we achieved so much despite these challenges Cheers Sam
