The ideas and beliefs of Matariki through sculpture.
Auckland
We strive to be outlandish in our build techniques and ways of conceptual thinking. That is something we hold close to us in hope to inspire others.
The coming Matariki will be the first day recorded in New Zealand's history as a national public holiday. By exploring this project we are aiming to instill a deepened pride with appreciation for the ancestors of Aotearoa in a conscious effort to build further unity by educating our diverse community on the values and traditions of Maori culture.
Our design is inspired by the first journey that was taken, the future journeys there are to look forward to and the opportunity to engage our multicultural community with Matariki and its meaning. The design represents a moment of reflection on our own personal journeys, celebrating the present and looking forward to the promise of the future as we move forward as individuals and a connected society.
The money will be spent on the creation of this sculpture.
