Given by 29 generous donors in 8 days

William is raising funds to pay for the editing, printing etc of his centenary biography of Maurice Till.

Auckland

In January 2025, I put my work in Auckland on hold and went to live in Dunedin to research my former teacher Maurice Till's biography, which I'm publishing independently with excellent help from Punaromia Publications. Apart from a generous donation from an old friend, the project has been unfunded. The book is almost finished, and printing costs are estimated to be around $7000 while the final total for editing, layout etc will be around $6000. Other expenses have included getting permissions to use photographs, obtaining high resolution images and engaging independent proofreaders. However, despite these expenses and loss of income, I believe Maurice Till's story as a pioneer New Zealand pianist needs to be told. I'm very grateful to have been given a recent Radio NZ interview on the day of his centenary, 22 October 2026

Use of funds

The money will be spent on the editing, layout, digitised photo images and permissions, and the printing of this biography of Maurice Till.
