Help get MDK to the Sport Aerobics World Champs!

$2,865 of $15,000 goal
Given by 38 generous donors in 9 weeks

MDK is off to represent NZ at the Sport Aerobics World Champs in December! Help us get to Martinique, which is a LONG way from home.

Auckland

Melissa, Dawn & Katie (MDK) are pursuing their dream of competing as a sport aerobics trio at the FISAF World Championships in December. Coached by themselves, the team has trained incredibly hard to be selected to represent New Zealand on the world stage. With their involvement in the sport completely self-funded (from training venue hire costs, team apparel, competition entry fees, to expensive accommodation and travel costs), they now need a little help to make it all the way to Martinique in the Caribbean, as flights alone are not cheap!

All three came out of retirement at the beginning of 2014 after last competing as a fitness team that placed 8th at the World Championships in 2011. It is also 10 years ago that Dawn and Melissa placed 13th as a trio at the World Championships in Ghent, Belgium.

With not long to go until the World Champs, MDK are focused on putting their all into every training session to be at their peak come December.

Any support for MDK is really appreciated!

Less than a week to go!  19 November 2015

Hi everyone,

We have been flat-out with fundraising, organising NZ tracksuits, booking accommodation, gluing more diamantes onto our costumes, and most importantly, training as hard as we can for the World Champs.

We take off in less than a week, so we're down to our final preparation. At every training we're working on increasing our intensity and fitness, making sure we're completely in time with each other, and having a good laugh along the way.

Last night we had a very successful Quiz Night fundraiser and had a fantastic turn-out! We hope everyone had as much fun as we did, and the auction went really well (and one lucky guy went home very stoked to win the date of his dreams with Melissa!).

A few weeks ago Seven Sharp ran a story about our trio which definitely helped spread the word about our awesome sport, and show friends and family what it is that we do when we say we're off to training! If you missed it, check it out here: http://tvnz.co.nz/seven-sharp/competitive-aerobics-some-very-fit-women-video-6407361

We have been blown away by the amount of support we've received - from workmates rallying their mates to come along to our quiz night, friends and family donating goodies for our raffle, physios and personal trainers offering a lot of encouragement, aerobics friends attending trainings to provide us with valuable feedback, to the amazing generosity we've seen through our Givealittle page.

As we pack our suitcases, we are starting to reflect on our journey to Martinique. We have faced many challenges along the way, but that is what makes this trip-of-a-lifetime so special and so rewarding.

With high kicks and determination to make you all proud,

MDK XOXO

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
