Huia asks

Kia Ora Rob,

My name is Huia Claude Adams and my Grandfather's name was Huia Claude Adams and his Father's name was Hugh John Adams.

From my understanding my grandfather was the 2nd child of Private Hugh John Adams just out of interest I was wondering if you also are a biology relative of Hugh John Adams as our family is short in the knowledge of our grandfather's family tree and we would love to know more? If not I was also wondering if you would be able to contact the person who won the bid for those medals as I would like to put in an offer of $1500 to have the medals back in the hands of a family member.

Kind Regards,

Huia Claude Adams.

Rob

Kia Ora Claude, so nice to hear from you, I'm not a biological relative of John Adams, I am the Historian of the Royal New Zealand Army Ordnance Corps (RNZAOC) and when I saw Johns medals on Trademe, I recognised them as significant to the RNZAOC as John was a foundation member of the Corps holder the Regimental Number of No 1. I tried to purchase the medals but failed due to the deeper pockets of the collector who won the auction. Since then, I have made several attempts to contact the purchaser but have had no luck as whoever it is has been unwilling to enter into any dialogue. We do have a short biography of John Adams on the RNZAOC Webpage at https://rnzaoc.com/2017/05/23/the-first-cohort-ordnance-soldiers-of-1917/ . Please feel free to drop me a Email at rnzaoc.admin@rnzaoc.com if you would like any more information. Kind Regards Rob McKie
