Getting those people most in need fed in flood hit Hawkes Bay and Gisborne.
Nationwide
We’re cycling a NUTCASE 1,500km route from Queen Charlotte Sounds to Milford Sounds (S2S) to raise money and awareness for two Food Rescue organisations in FLOOD HIT Hawkes Bay and Gisborne - ‘Nourished for Nill’ and ‘Gizzy Kai’. These charities provide an essential service getting food to those in need - that need has increased astronomically because of the floods and your donations will help get people fed.
The S2S route is 1500kms of mostly back-country gravel grinding for bike-packers with a need for pain and punishment. There’s 15,000 metres of climbing - x2 Everests - think of it as ‘type-2’ fun … it’s not fun at the time, it’s fun afterwards.
From the Wairarapa, we are Mike Smith and David Savage - veterans of the Tour Aotearoa (Cape Reinga to Bluff, 3000km ride), we know a little more about what we’re doing, the rest we’ll make up as we go.
About the beneficiaries:
Gizzy Kai Rescue Charitable Trust typically saves 5000 kgs from landfill each month distributed via community groups to people in need. https://www.gizzykairescue.org/
Nourished for Nil typically rescues 70 to 100 tonnes of food a month. We serve the public directly in Hastings and Napier. We support 1500 families a week with our food rescue. https://www.nourishedfornil.org/

We’re fans of Food Rescue in New Zealand!
Providing food security to those most vulnerable in flood hit Hawkes Bay and Gisborne, it’s essential these organisations keep running - the cyclone has had a huge impact and your donations will help them continue their operations to get people fed.
