Help me get to Senegal, West Africa to volunteer as a Children's ward nurse onboard the Mercy Ships!
Mount Maunganui, Tauranga
As some of you are already aware I have recently been accepted to volunteer onboard the Global Mercy Ship in Dakar, Senegal in Africa! I will be working as a Paediatric ward nurse from June-August 2022 and would really appreciate your help to get me there! Mercy Ships is the world's largest non-governmental floating hospital delivering vital, free surgeries to people in desperate need that otherwise would have no access to.
Throughout my nursing career I have felt a pull towards this organisation and the people it serves, and cannot think of any better way to use the skills and knowledge I have gained to take care of African children receiving life changing operations. I will have the opportunity to see the resilience of these children and their families, work along side volunteers from across the world who feel a similar calling, and witness people who have nothing in common on the surface working together to better a small portion of humanity, and so much more.
I am so humbled to have this opportunity secured to volunteer with Mercy Ships in 2022. They do a truely incredible job at providing hope and healing to the African community. Your support would mean so much!🤍🙏🏼
Not only is this an unpaid position, but travel to and from the ship, monthly crew fees, insurance, vaccines prior to travel, and any usual living expenses while there will not be covered; then your support will be gratefully welcomed and received!
What a amazingly generous donation, wow thank you so much!! I am beyond grateful. Have now arrived on the Africa Mercy ship as of yesterday, and the community have been so kind and welcoming. It really is an amazing organisation. Begin work tomorrow, I can't wait! Thanks again, Sophie x
