Metro Judo club are needing new training mats. The estimated cost to replace our floor mats and crash mats are around $20,000.
Waikato
Metro judo club teaches more than just the art of judo and self defense. Judo also teaches discipline, respect and builds self confidence all while having fun. We run classes for peewees from the age of 4 years old, junior classes twice a week and adult classes training twice a week with an extra class held on Sunday's for our more serious competitors.
Metro judo club has existed for more than 33 years, 30 of those under the guidance of Sensei Terry Steenson and our administrator, Dianne Steenson. In this time, the club has produced various national and Oceania champions and even a couple of Olympians.
We are fundraising so we can purchase some new floor mats that will help keep our students safe when practicing their techniques. Our current mats are almost as old as the club itself. Our crash mats are also worn out and needs to replaced.
We keep our club fees low, so we won't exclude passionate students from low income families. Our coaches are all volunteers, and after paying rent, utilities and insurance, there isn't much left in the budget to pay for these much needed replacements.
Any and all donations are greatly appreciated.
