School for Mikko
Mikko is a special boy who has Autism. He starts school next year and his teacher aide support from the government will only cover 19 hours

Mikko was diagnosed with autism at age 2. He is a happy quiet boy who loves water and Thomas the tank engine. His social skills and speech are severely affected.
His decile one school will struggle to cover the extra hours of his teacher aide though they are fantastic and doing all they can.

Update for 26/03/2013 26 March 2013
Just wanted to update that Mikko has now been at school for 6 weeks! He is currently still just attending part-time but really seems to be enjoying it. Also we had his level of funding reviewed after we disputed it and he will now recieve more one on one teacher time. This doesn't increase his teacher aide support but does give him about an hour a day with one to one teacher time which is great! It is also one less hour a day that the school has to provide teacher aide support so really awesome!!!
