Minivan goes boom!

To fund raise for a replacement minivan for Whangaehu School.

Manawatu / Whanganui

Until recently we had two old minivans used to take our rural students into town to enable them to take part in activities such as swimming and going to the gym. We also have a number of families who need us to collect their children in the mornings from more distant locations and some from Whanganui itself. Sadly, one of our vans recently set on fire and the engine is completely ruined.

Our other van is old and looks likely to need costly repairs in the near future. Our van is a lifeline for our students to be able to get to school and to take them on trips and camps. Our families are very hard working and often are unable to take time off work to help with transport.

Our school is small and receives limited funds from the Ministry and so any extras have to come from fundraising. I hope that if enough people support this page we will be able to buy a newer van which cost in the region of $22,000.

About us

Whangaehu School is a small rural school on the outskirts of Whanganui. It is a full primary school with 37 year 1 to 8 students. We are surrounded by farmland and the environment is perfect for learning. Because we are a small school we can provide the individual attention needed by each of our students.

Use of funds

All funds will be spent on a replacement minivan costing approximately $22,000. Any surplus money will be spent on taking the children on camp.
