Miss Piccalilli needs surgery

  • Post surgery update

      3 December 2025

Kia ora all, well it's been 4wks since surgery. The first week was brutal and heartbreaking, luckily she has faith that i'm not trying to hurt her. She still isn't a fan of the rehab but at least she is now up to 15min walks twice a day. She isn't supposed to jump yet, however the vacuum is still her nemesis so occasionally does. I can see that although she is raising the leg at times she isn't in pain when walking and that is what I was hoping for. I remain grateful to all of you who donated, you have made a huge difference to the rest of her life and mine.

  • Short update more to come

      31 October 2025

We finally have a surgery date Monday 11am...arghh. Excited and terrified at the same time. She has been exceptionally good with the crate training and I think we are ready for 6wks of confined rehab. I thank everyone who helped get us to this $3000 goal - I'll let you all know how she is post-op. Nga mihi nui Trudy & Miss Pickle

  • Update on surgery

      19 August 2025

Thanks to every one of you for helping us. Miss Pickle has had her xrays (they needed to know the specifics of the required operation) and it has found alot of arthritis in & around the patella and joint but luckily not the other knee or either hip. The blood tests show her liver & kidney are fine so we are ok to plod along with gentle pain med use as needed. I got her a crate as advised by the vet that she needs 6wks of confinement to heal and as she is normally free range I have been feeding her in there with the top off and the door held open - so far she goes in to eat and then straight back out but we'll get there. Again thank you all so much for caring it means the world to us.
