Mobility Van For My Severely Disabled Son

My severely physically and cognitively disabled son needs a mobility to support his quality of life, please help us get that for him

My 2YO son is severely disabled with a condition called Allan-Herndon-Dudley Syndrome and will need to go into a wheelchair in the next few years.

As I am a full time Solo Dad of him and his 4 older siblings we need a mobility van that can transport him, his support worker(s), myself and his brothers and sister.

We weren't planning on starting this process for another couple of years, however the 7 seater van we had has since broken down and is beyond repair and now the 5 seater car we've been using in the mean time now has got to have over $2k of repairs done in it for it to pass it's WOF next year (I only paid $3k for it originally)

So now I'm reaching out cap in hand to ask for your help to help us get my wee boy a vehicle that can transport him for the rest of his life and our wee family.

He is my 2yo son that I provide full time day to day care for, taking him to his hospital appointments, surgeries, etc

Use of funds

We currently don't have suitable transportation for all 5 kids, if we are unable to raise enough for a mobility van, funds will go towards the purchase of an 8 seater van until such a time we can get a mobility van.

Money raised put down as a deposit? 4 February 2023

Hey folks! Thank you all so much for everything you've put in!

Along with money from a private contribution, we have just put down a deposit on a 8 seater, 2011 Nissan Serena, it's done 91k kms and has a towbar!

We're paying the rest off at $50 per week, but that's something I can manage 😁

In the future, once wee man goes into a wheelchair, we will sell this van and used the money from that save to go down as the deposit for the larger mobility van that'll be able to transport wee man, his brothers and sister, myself and wee man's support worker!
